Consent to DNA Testing
Last Updated: March 08, 2026
This Consent to DNA Testing policy outlines the requirements and procedures for individuals participating in DNA testing services provided by TraceLinc Inc. (“TraceLinc”).
By scheduling or participating in a DNA test through TraceLinc, all participants acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined below.
Voluntary Participation
All DNA testing conducted through TraceLinc is voluntary.
Each participant must provide informed consent prior to the collection of DNA samples. Participation in testing indicates that individuals understand the nature and purpose of the DNA test being performed.
If the test involves a minor (under 18 years of age), consent must be provided by a parent or legal guardian.
Authorization for Sample Collection
By participating in the DNA testing process, participants authorize TraceLinc technicians to:
Collect DNA samples using a non-invasive cheek swab
Record identification information where required
Document sample collection for chain-of-custody procedures (for legal testing)
All samples are collected in accordance with standard DNA testing protocols and laboratory requirements.
Laboratory Analysis
DNA samples collected by TraceLinc are submitted to accredited third-party laboratories for analysis.
TraceLinc acts as a sample collection provider and does not perform the laboratory analysis itself.
Laboratories follow strict scientific procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of results.
Legal DNA Testing Requirements
For legal DNA testing, additional procedures may be required to maintain a valid chain of custody, including:
Government-issued photo identification
Photographs taken at the time of collection
Signed documentation verifying participant identity
Technician verification of sample collection
Failure to comply with these procedures may result in the test results not being admissible in legal proceedings.
Confidentiality
TraceLinc takes the privacy and confidentiality of participants seriously.
Personal information and DNA test results are handled securely and shared only with authorized individuals or laboratories involved in the testing process, unless disclosure is required by law.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information regarding how personal data is handled.
Sample Storage and Disposal
DNA samples collected through TraceLinc are submitted to an accredited third-party laboratory for analysis. After testing is completed, biological samples may be retained for a limited period by the laboratory for quality assurance and verification purposes, in accordance with laboratory policies and applicable regulations.
After the retention period, samples are securely destroyed or permanently discarded according to laboratory protocols.
TraceLinc does not independently store DNA samples. All storage, retention, and destruction of biological materials are handled by the accredited laboratory performing the analysis.
Understanding Test Results
Participants acknowledge that DNA test results may have personal, legal, or emotional implications.
TraceLinc does not provide legal advice, medical advice, or counseling services related to test outcomes.
Participants are responsible for seeking professional guidance if needed.
Right to Decline Testing
Participants have the right to decline participation or withdraw consent prior to sample collection.
Once samples have been collected and submitted to the laboratory, cancellation may not be possible.
